M3 GT
Η Μ3 GT ητανε μια εκδοση για ορισμενες χωρες της Ευρωπης και κατασκευαστηκανε συνολικα 356 αυτοκινητα, ενω 50 ακομα δεξιοτιμονα για την Αγγλια. Ολες ητανε κατασκευασμενες το 1995. Γνωστη για το μοναδικο της χρωμα British Racing Green και το Mexico Green εσωτερικο. Μια διαφορετικη αποψη καθως τα συνηθει Γερμανικα αγωνιστικα χρωματα ητανε το ασπρο με κοκκινα νουμερα. Οι Μ3 GT ητανε ειδικες εκδοσεις ωστε να επιτραπει στην Ε36 Μ3 να ολοκληρωσει τους αγωνες στο Fia-GT class II, IMSA GT και διεθνη αγωνες μεγαλων αποστασεων.

Μ3-R
Το 1994 η BMW Aυστραλιας παρηγγειλε 15 Ε36 Μ3 για να μπορεσει να αγωνιστει στο Australian Super Production series (GT production Class). Στην αρχη τα αυτοκινητα κατασκευαζονταν με βαση την κοινη γραμμη ολων των Ε36 Μ3. Ομως ο Frank Gardiner αναλαμβανε να τα μετατρεψει σε Μ3-R. Και τα 15 ητανε βαμμενα Alpine White III (300) με ανθρακι Μ υφασμα ή amaretto suede εσωτερικο. Τα Μ3-R ειχανε τις εξης διαφορες απο τα απλα Μ3. Ο βελτιωμενος τους κινητηρας των 2990cc φοραγε εκκεντροφορους της BMW σε συνεργασια με την AC Schnitzer, επενασχεδιασμενη εισαγωγη και εξαγωγη, ελαφρομενο βολαν και διπλη αντλια λαδιου. Με αυτες τις αλλαγες η ισχυς ανεβηκε στα 324 hp. Ακομα υπαρχουνε αλλαγες οπως κοντητερο
διαφορικο 3.23, δισκο της Ap Racing, δεν ειχε κοφτη τελικης, σκληροτερα αμορτισερ και ελατηρια Group N, 4πιστονα Ap Racing μπροστα με κανονικους δισκους πισω και Ap Racing δαγκανες. Ακομα ειχε ρυθμιζομενα μπροστινα και πισω M3 GT spoilers.Τα πρωτα φοραγανε Μ cross spoke ζαντες και μετα BBS 7.5Χ17 μπροστα και 8,5Χ17 πισω. Τα προβολακια ειχανε αφαιρεθει, το λογοτυπο Μ3 απο πισω, το aircondition, το radio, το κεντρικο κλειδωμα και το check control. Καθε αυτοκινητο ειχε ταμπελακι συλλεκτικοτητας στην κεντρικη κονσολα διπλα απο το χειροφρενο.

Μ3 Compact
Το 1996 το περιοδικο Auto Motor Und Sport γιορταζε τα 50 γενεθλια του και ετσι η BMW εφτιαξε μια χειροποιητη Ε36 M3 Compact. Το αυτοκινητο ηταν εφοδιασμενο με ολα τα μηχανικα και εξωτερικα μερη μιας Μ3. Το χρωμα της ητανε κοκκινο με μαυρο υφασματινο/alcadara εσωτερικο. Ειχε καθίσματα Recaro, φοραγε τις σφυριλατες styling 24M double spoke ζαντες, ζωνες 4 σημειων, το τιμονι ηταν ντυμενο με alcadara καθως και ο λεβιες ταχυτητων. Η εξατμιση ηταν στο κεντρο και τα προβολακια απουσιαζανε οπως στη Μ3-R. Το αυτοκινητο εγινε δωρεα απο τη BMW στο περιοδικο.

αλλά το συννημένο που παραθέτω είναι επίσης σπάνιο και ακόμα πιο εντυπωσιακό:
1997 AC Schnitzer S3 3.2 compact '10 Years Limited Edition'
This car is based on the BMW 318ti compact and after the AC Schnitzer treatment the 3.2 litre engine gives 260 bhp/191 kw and a maximum torque of 330 nm at 4400 rpm. In issue no. 14/1997, the magazine 'auto motor und sport' gave it the following review: 'The smooth power delivery is the dominant feature of the AC Schnitzer S3 3.2. The engine responds swiftly to gas even from idle, revs smoothly up in every one of the five gears and easily gives the 1367 kg compact a performance which would do credit to any sports car.' All auxiliary equipment has been modified to suit the increased engine power: the five-speed box is taken from the Z3 M-roadster and fitted with the sports gear shift, 'Short Shift'. The standard rear differential is replaced by a stronger, longer ratio unit with 25% limited slip, and the standard braking system has given way to a high performance system. The standard suspension has also been changed for the AC Schnitzer sports suspension - previously subjected to severe road and race track tests - and set for a sporting but comfortable ride. The suspension modifications also include the single-part, black-painted Type II alloy wheels size 8.5J x 18' all round. Michelin MXX 3 Pilots size 225/40 ZR 18 on the front transmit the steering forces efficiently, while at the rear the 255/35 ZR 18s put down the power. To improve driving stability in particular at high speeds, the Jubilee compact is fitted with a specially designed front skirt with large brake air ducts, a three-part rear spoiler and a rear roof spoiler. The overall sporting image is completed by the elegant side skirts and sports mirrors. AC Schnitzer design stripes in red on the body and wheels, and the '10 Years Limited Edition' logo identify the Jubilee model from the outside. In the interior too, the AC Schnitzer S3 3.2 compact '10 Years Limited Edition' stands out thanks to its pleasing contrasts and functionality: ergonomically correct sports seats, airbag sports steering wheel, carbon-fibre cockpit components and leather trim with the sporting yet elegant AC Schnitzer needle-stripe design with red stitching. The aluminium components give the finishing touch to the interior: gear knob, pedals, foot rest, hand brake lever and name plate with the serial number of the special model are the identifying features of this Jubilee model.

In 1997, BMW introduced the Sequential M Gearbox (SMG) as an option on the European-spec E36 M3 in some markets. Using the internals of the Getrag six-speed manual gearbox, SMG employs an electronic clutch operated by a magnetic valve that is triggered by pulling or pushing on the gear lever. Two further valves operate a pair of hydraulic cylinders that electronically engage each gear, thus allowing for shifts to occur in as little as 0.4 seconds. The SMG electronics are integrated with the Siemens engine management system to put the engine and gearbox in synch. The system includes an automatic mode, gear indicator in place of the engine oil temperature gauge below the tachometer, and a flashing upshift light under the M logo in the instrument cluster.
